Karachi: Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Friday strongly condemned the recent killings of the party workers across Karachi and demanded government to take serious action against the criminals.
Addressing a press conference at MQM headquarter 90, the party leader Raza Haroon said that the terrorists did not want MQM to spread the message of harmony among different sects in Pakistan and that’s why they were targeting MQM activists.
“Four MQM activists were martyred in three days,” he said adding the police failed to arrest the killers of any of them.
“We want to ask as to why the bloodshed in the city continues unabated when thousands of police, Rangers and other law-enforcing personnel are deputed and patrolling across city streets.”
He said MQM Chief Altaf Hussain adopted a bold stance against the barbaric killings of the Shiite people in the country on August 22. He informed the public about the religious creed of the Quaid-i- Azam citing historical reference in order to create sectarian harmony.
“The Shiite people have been killed in different cities of the country while on the other excesses, and injustices committed against non-Muslims have cast a pall of insecurity and restiveness on the religious minorities living in Pakistan. Many Hindu families have left for India because of the prevailing circumstances.
“The unfortunate incidents of imprisonment of a Christian girl Rimsha Masih in Islamabad and the forceful evacuation of Christian people from the area have smeared the image of Pakistan at global level,” he remarked.
He also cautioned the MQM workers to remain watchful and avoid sitting at public places in order to defeat the nefarious aims of the enemies of Pakistan.
