Abu Dhabi: Australia on Friday set a reasonable target of 249 runs against Pakistan in the 2nd One Day International played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The decision of batting first by Australian captain Michael Clarke was proved right by the sensible Aussies batting against the strong Pakistan spin attack. Michael Hussey, who scored 61 runs, remained the leading run scorer from Australian side, followed by Bailey 39, Clarke 37, Maxwell 28 and Warner 24.
Instead of expensive Pakistani pace attack, the spinners once again played their brilliant role in restricting the Aussies to a reasonable total of 249 runs. Saeed Ajmal was once again brilliant as he sent four Australian players to their dressing room followed by Junaid Khan who took 3 wickets, out of which two of them in his last over. Abdul Rehman and Mohammad Hafeez shared one wicket each.
The average score of team batting first at Sheikh Zayed Stadium is 251 runs.
Although the target of 249 is not a big one but considering the previous batting performances by Pakistan, it seems that the the batsmen had to work hard in order to gave their team a chance to stay in the tournament.
