London: Microsoft has kicked-off registration of upgrade programme of Windows 8, latest operating system, says the upgrade is available in 140 countries.
According to the company’s official twitter page, anyone who purchased a Windows-based PC after June 2, 2012 is eligible for an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $14.99. Customers in 140 countries have until January 31, 2013 to redeem the offer, which can be done via Microsoft’s official upgrade page. The offer is good for up to five different PCs per customer.
Anyone who misses the deadline must pay full $40 upgrade price if they want Windows 8 on their machine. Even without the promotional price, this version of Windows is substantially lower than what Microsoft has asked for in the past.
