Abbottabad: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, Monday said that Pakistan and Islam could not be separated as our country came into being on the basis of Islam.
Addressing a flag hoisting ceremony on the eve of 65th Independence day of the country at Pakistan Military Academy Kakul, the army chief said that no power could eliminate Islam from Pakistan.
Kayani said that fight against terror and militancy is the right path and army personnel have sacrificed their lives for the safeguard of the country.
“Islam does not permit anyone to consider himself as most genius,” he said adding that emphasizing only on his opinion and not considering the others is the real terrorism.
It is the most difficult job for any army to fight against its people but the army is keen to eliminate elements working against the interests of the country, he said.
The COAS further said that all people are responsible for the mistakes made in past but now its the time to join hands and work together for a better future of the country.
