London: The London 2012 Artistic Gymnastics Men’s Rings doodle is the fourth Google doodle this Olympics. The search engine giant has doodled a cartoon, showing a moustachioed gymnast performing by holding two O’s of the Google logo as rings.
There are three disciplines in gymnastics: artistic, rhythmic and trampoline. Artistic Gymnastics is the most famous of the three and Men’s Rings is one of its type.
Rings gymnastics is exclusively a men’s competition and involves two rings, each with an internal diameter of 18 centimetres that are suspended 2.8 metres from the floor.
Ring routines at the Olympics should include swings and handstands to emphasise muscle strength and the programme must end with an acrobatic dismount. Rings final is scheduled for August 6.
London 2012 Men’s Rings competition is being conducted in four phases—qualification, team final, individual all-around final and individual apparatus finals.
