Lahore: At least five people have died and nine left critically injured when fire erupted at Kohenoor TV building in Garhi Shahu, Lahore.
According to reports, three dead and three injured were rushed to the Lahore Meo Hospital.
The fire broke out because of a short circuit during the Sehri transmission on the channel. The host and the guest of the show were also affected as a result.
Two of the reasons of the casualties were that the building’s central gate could not be opened promptly, and stairs were too narrow to help the staffers flee the scene on time.
Fire tenders were dispatched to the scene after local residents informed Rescue 1122.
Firefighters put the fire out after about one-hour operation.
