London: Sohail Abbas, a man of records for being the highest goal scorer in the history of field hockey and captain of Pakistan Hockey team, will be the flag bearer from Pakistan in the opening ceremony of London Olympics 2012 tonight.
Every participating country in the London Olympics at 2012, will parade in the Olympic stadium, preceded by their flag. However, the flag will be borne by a sportsman, chosen either by the National Olympic committee of the respective country or probably by the athletes themselves to represent their country’s participation.
From Pakistan, Sohail Abbas has got the honor to be flag bearer of the national flag as among entire contingent, he deserves the best for being the world record holder, a senior sportsman and a captain of Pakistan hockey team.
From the host country, Chris Hoy will be the flag bearer of Britain, among other participating countries, Maria Sharapova will carry Russia’s flag, Mariel Zagunis will carry the American flag, Caster Semenya to carry South Africa’s flag, Pau Gasol to hold Spanish flag, Yi Jianlian to hold Chinese flag, Usain Bolt to carry Jamaican flag, Sushil kumar to bear Indian flag and Lauren Jackson will be the flag bearer of Australia.
