Accra, Ghana: The President of Ghana Atta Mills has died at 68 only month before seeking second term.
Atta Mills, who was suffering from throat cancer, has died in the capital, Accra.
Ghana’s President John Atta Mills has died after being taken ill, a statement from the president’s office said.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden and untimely death of the president of the republic of Ghana,” the statement said on Tuesday.
It said the 68-year-old leader of the West African nation died a few hours after being taken ill.
