Jamshoro: Research scholar Abdul Razak Khan while defending his final ph.D seminar on a thesis about ‘Local Knowledge and capacity in Management of Disaster Vulnerability: A case study of costal area of Sindh’ has said that natural disasters do come with server damages to life and ecology. Data find out that between 1980 and 2007, 243 million people were affected by natural disasters.
The final presentation of the scholar was presided over by Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Nazir A.Mughal while a large number of scholars attended the final Ph.D seminar.
The scholar has completed his a Ph.D thesis in Sindh Development Study Center under guidance of Dr. Parvez Pathan and Dr. Abida Tahrani.
The researcher highlighted his research work and informed that the study largely focuses upon all stages of disaster situation in the context of role played by local knw3oledge and wisdom in mitigating the disaster situation. He said that the study attempts to basically review how best the local knowledge may influence public policy towards handling disaster situation in a suitable means.
Highlighting the parameters of the study the scholar said that the parameters of the study were local knowledge, mitigation measures, poverty, illiteracy, income level, health facility and public and private sector initiatives.
The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Dr. Mughal while appreciating the research work emphasized to focus the recommendations in research to help the issues of the Province of Sindh . The Vice Chancellor underlined the primary source in research and added that the scholars in their research must prefer to the primary source for the research work.
He said that the scholars should research on any topic that the future scholar should get benefit and they should promote the research work for the future generations.
