Islamabad: Astronomical parameters suggest Ramadan moon may not be sighted today (Friday), therefore, the first fasting of the holy month may fall on Sunday.
The moon crossed the conjunction line yesterday (Thursday) at 9.24 am PST.
The sunset today will be at 7.23 pm, and the evening civil twilight (ECTL) will be at 7.48 pm. The moon will set at 8.04 pm, making the age of the new moon 34 hours and 24 minutes at ECTL. It will set 41 minutes after sunset and 16 minutes after ECTL.
At ECTL the moon will be at an altitude of two degrees and 47 minutes. It will be at an azimuth of 281 degrees and 10 minutes. At sunset the moon will be at an altitude of eight degrees and five minutes. It will be at an azimuth of 278 degrees and 48 minutes. There is a slight chance of sighting the Ramadan moon today. The weather is expected to be fair.
