California: A year back, seeing an IPad in my English teacher’s hands, I was bit of amaze that what is this. My teacher told me that it is tablet made by Apple and this is going to took place of PCs and Laptops. He also exclaimed that it is the best investment he has made in his life. He was not wrong; literally he had bought a thing which people will be then having after five years.
And today when I was thinking about my school days, his words came in my mind. Now, after two years, I feel that I should also have a tablet, probably an Apple one.
My teacher was having a second generation IPad, which he bought just after it was released in 2011. The tablet was having features as same as a laptop but with touch screen. He showed me some videos relating to Aikido, as we both share common interest in Martial Arts. The quality of video was really good and the sound of its music player was also very loud and clear.
Evolution of iPads: The Touch Screen Computers
First Generation iPads
Researching about Tablets especially iPads, I came to know that idea of iPad was introduce to the Apple in 1993. After seeing the popularity of IPhone in people, Apple CEO, Steve Jobs introduced iPad in 2010. This was the first generation iPad which was having a LED screen of 1024 × 768 pixels, 3G cellular technologies, 1 GHz processor but no camera.
Second and Third Generation iPads
In second generation iPad , the additional features were the camera and Apple A5 chip. The third generation IPad which was released in March 2012, many improvements were made. The chip placed in it was now A5X, the camera was of 5MP and 1080 full HD. Other changes included increasing pixels of LED screen, making the tablet lighter in weight e.t.c.
Fourth Generation iPads
The new fourth generation iPad, also known as iPad 4 or iPad mini is being introduced in October of this year or March of the next year.
Features of iPad 4
Analyst say that this time, Apple will be introducing its iPad which will be less in cost and also size. An analyst writes:”One of the biggest differences between tablets will be the size of the screen. The iPad comes with a 9.7 inch screen while it is thought that the screen of the iPad 4 will be in the region of 7 to 8 inches. Due to the smaller screen size it will lack the Retina display and this will help to keep the cost of the device down. This will perhaps be in the region of $199 which is in the same region as that of the Kindle Fire and Google Nexus 7.” If it happens so, then it will be nightmare for Apple competitors whose products are only sold because of their low cost.
Competition with Microsoft, Samsung & Others
The analyst also talks about tablets produced by Microsoft and Google. He says that Microsoft will also be introducing their Windows 8 in October which will be proved to have a stiff competition with the Apple’s iPad mini.
Future Challenge
Now the Apple has to design such a tablet which shall have better features and is less in cost. The revealing of iPad mini in October 2012 will make it very difficult for Apple to introduce new features in lower cost. But then only Tom Cook: the CEO after Steve Jobs, can prove that the Decline of Apple have not started after Jobs but a new era of inventions has begin!!!
