Peshawar: Jamiat-Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has welcomed the appointment of Fakhruddin G Ebrahim as Chief Election Commissioner. However he said he would not be able to understand the complications in holding the election due to his age.
Speaking to media on Saturday, the Maulana claimed that conspiracies were being hatched against democracy. He was of the view that Prime Minister Raja Pervez should not be sent home by the judiciary.
Fazl said the situation was heading toward a confrontation and the judiciary should remain neutral.
He alleged that the agencies were supporting sectarian political parties and all the decision were taken corps commanders instead of governors and chief ministers.
The Maulana said that drone attacks were continuing despite the opening of Nato supply routes.
Moreover, the JUI-F held a protest rally against resumption of Nato supplies in Bannu district.
