Karachi: Mehreen Ahmed, a senior banker and specialist of consumer financing and retail banking, has moved to Bank Alfalah Limited recently in pursuance of better working opportunity at the bank of Abu Dhabi Group.
She has assumed the office of key management position at Bank Alfalah Limited as Head of Consumer Business and New Initiative, a division of retail banking.
Ms Ahmed has replaced Adil Rashid who quit Bank Alfalah Limited a month ago to join NIB Bank as head of SME, Retail and Commercial Banking Department. She was earlier heading retail banking division of Soneri Bank, where she worked for more than 1 year and nine months as Senior Executive Vice President & Head Retail Banking
The female banker is one of the few bankers in the country having international and local exposure in consumer banking portfolio, which is considered a most valuable and challenging department in the present tense for enhancing profitability and reach of a bank.
With her new job at Abu Dhabi Bank, she will be playing a key role in the due diligence of Citi Bank Consumer Banking portfolio, which her bank is keen to acquire for getting edge in the banking industry.
Ms Ahmed has been famous in introducing various consumers’ products particularly in corporate sector in order to attract potential customers for banking services and products.
She started her professional career from 1988 and worked in a number of banks including Standard Chartered Bank, Grindlays Bank and MCB. She joined Soneri Bank in October 2010.
The addition of Mehreen has been termed as good for Bank Alfalah Limited as she has been close professional ties with the CEO and President Atif Aslam Bajwa, who was also her boss at MCB and Soneri Bank Limited.
She holds BBA and MBA Degrees from IBA, Karachi.
