Quetta: A blast ripped through a bus, carrying Shiite pilgrims from border town of Taftan to the provincial capital, killing at least 15 people, including policemen and injuring 25 others.
Police said the blast targeted a bus carrying pilgrims from back to Quetta on on Hazarganji road of the city.
The dead and injured were taken to Bolan Medical Complex and Civil Hospital through ambulances and police vehicles. Locals and rescue workers were busy in recovering the bodies and injured . At least five police personnel, escorting the bus also wounded in the incident.
A Bomb Disposal Squad said a remote controlled bomb with 50 kg explosive material targeted the ill-fated bus.
Heavy contingent of police and Frontier Corps rushed to the spot and cordoned of the area.
Eyewitness said the blast was so intense that fire erupted in the bus and it plunged into a ravine 50 feet far from the road . A crane was called in to pull the bus out from the ditch.
