Islamabad: Opposition leader in National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday said that Pakistan Muslim League-N would not become part of any constitutional amendment that contradict the Supreme Court’s historic verdict in connection with dual nationality of the Parliamentarians.
In a statement issued at a chamber of National Assembly, Nisar said that any decision or constitutional amendment aimed at curtailing the powers or independence of the Supreme Court would be strongly opposed.
“The ineligible, dishonest and failed government will not be allowed to play with the honour and dignity of the Supreme Court,” he maintained.
The Opposition leader observed that the recent election of the prime minister and passage of the 20th amendment had proved that the government did not enjoy support of a two-third majority in the National Assembly.
He said nothing good could be expected to happen in the country as long as the present rulers continue to cling to the power.
