Islamabad: Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh on Friday presented budget for the fiscal year 2012-13 amid uproar and sloganeering by the opposition the Pakistan Muslim league-Nawaz in the National Assembly.
TV cameras showed the rival PPP and Nawaz-League parliamentarians wrangling. The PML-N lawmakers tore apart budget document and threw towards the finance minister who made his speech, wearing earphone. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was also present on the occasion.
Opposition lawmakers chanted slogans ” stop plundering,” “stop wearing expensive suits” holding placards inscribed with different slogans like ” “chemical Gilani,” an obvious reference to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Musa Ali Gilani, who has been undergoing inquiries in a case pertaining to chemical quota, involving Rs 7 billion.
Sheikh presented outlay of 3.10 trillion budget before the session was adjourned to Monday.
