Rome: A woman was pulled alive from the rubble of her apartment 12 hours after a 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit northern Italy.
The firefighters heard the woman’s screams as she lay in the midst of her destroyed kitchen, Sky TG24 reported. The report said she entered the place which was damaged after the May 20 earthquake to retrieve some personal stuff.
At least 15 people have died and 350 were injured due to Tuesday’s quake.
Tuesday’s earthquake was centered in the province of Modena, near Bologna. The towns of Mirandola and Cavezzo were closest to the epicenter, civil protection authorities said.
“Some buildings which were damaged already in last week’s earthquake were affected again today. San Felice sul Panaro and Mirandola registered most of the damage,” a spokeswoman said.
