Islamabad: Former law minister Babar Awan has withdrawn his intra court appeal against the Supreme Court’s decision to indict him in contempt case.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case.
Ali Zafar, counsel for Babar Awan, withdrew the plea on court’s direction.
In his argument the lawyer said that a two-member bench of the apex court neither accepted nor accepted unconditional apology of Awan.
He said “We will have reservations if court carries on trial without giving decision over the plea”, Chief Justice remarked that the apology was tantamount to confession.
