Monterrey, Mexico: Mexican police found 49 bodies wrapped in plastic bags near the northern city of Monterrey, officials said.
The site of the incident is 180 kilometers from the US border.
Earlier, the police found 18 dismembered, decapitated bodies in two abandoned vehicles in western Mexico.
The killings appear to be a revenge involving powerful drug gangs.
Since 2006, tens of thousands of people have died in the country, when President Felipe Calderon deployed the army to counter these gangs.
“Authorities have blamed much of the deadly violence on battles between the Zetas — a gang set up by ex-commandos that deserted in the 1990s — and groups allied to the Sinaloa Federation of Mexico’s most wanted drug lord, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman,” AFP added.
