Homs: The UN observers monitoring the ceasefire in Syria amid sporadic terrorist attacks carried out by armed groups are scheduled to visit the western cities of Homs and Hama on Tuesday.
The latest UN schedule comes a day after at least 20 people were killed and scores of others injured in two bomb attacks in the northwestern city of Idlib.
Groups of angry Syrian people gathered at the scene of the bombings and condemned the attacks. They also reiterated their support for the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
Syrian state TV said “terrorists” were behind the bomb attacks in Idlib.
Armed groups continue carrying out terrorist attacks in Syria despite a ceasefire that took effect on April 12 and the presence of the UN observers.
Syrian state media also reported on April 29 that a rocket-propelled grenade hit the Central Bank in the capital, Damascus, overnight.
The ceasefire in Syria was part of a six-point peace plan proposed by UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan in March.
The first group of the UN observers arrived in Damascus late on April 15. The observers were approved for the mission according to UNSC Resolution 2042 passed on April 14.
