London: Mozilla, just days after releasing Firefox 12, has unveiled a beta version of Firefox 13 with a few new features that fans should enjoy.
Mozilla has finally jumped on the speed dial bandwagon by redesigning the “New Tab” and “Home Page” areas to look more like the tile-based “speed dial” layouts found in Opera and Chrome.
The Firefox 13 will also be adding support for SPDY, a newish web protocol that can improve performance and security (by encrypting all web traffic).
“The updated browser comes with three major redesigns. Mozilla has redesigned the Home Page, which now gives easy access to Bookmarks, History, Settings, Add-ons, Downloads and Sync Preferences with one-click shortcuts. It also offers a redesigned New Tab page which allows you to open a new tab, get to your most recently and frequently visited sites, customize, add or remove thumbnails to get to where you want to go in one click,” says the post on Mozilla’s official blog.
“The new Tabs on Demand feature loads tabs on demand when you restore a previous session, which makes it faster to restart Firefox windows with many tabs,” the blog post adds.
Firefox 13 Beta is now available for download from Mozilla’s website on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
