Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani on Monday said that the Gyari operation would be continued until and unless a single army personnel remains under the avalanche.
Addressing to the ‘Yaum-e-Shuhada’ ceremony at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, Kiyani said that the nation and the army was aggrieved on the incident of the Giyari sector and the way the nation has supported army in this disaster was an example.
Around 139 army personnel and civilian were trapped under an avalanche in Gyari sector of Siachen and till now instead of continuous rescue work by army personnel they were unable to found any of them.
“We are thankful to all foreign countries who have provided assistance in the rescue work,” he said adding the Pakistani nation regards their rescue work with great respect.
On the occasion the relatives of the martyrs, high officials of civil and military leadership and foreign dignitaries were also present.
The General further said that in May Abbotabad operation took place and in November Salala check-post was attacked but instead of all these things certain international powers are creating confusions about us.
“But instead of all these actions the nation and the army personnel are sacrificing their lives in this war against terror,” he said adding that the soverginity of the country would be guarded with responsibility by the Army.
