Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah had a meeting with British High Commissioner, Adam Thomson and Deputy High Commissioner of United Kingdom at Karachi, Francis Campbell at the Chief Minister House.
The meeting was also attended by Sindh Education Secretary Muhammad Siddique Memon, Sindh Rehabilitation Secretary Syed Sohail Akbar Shah and others.
According to an official handout, the British High Commissioner said that UK wanted to help Sindh government for promotion and development of education in the province. He informed that the United Kingdom Department for International Development had established “Sindh Education Fund” worth 16 million pounds, and as per target, one million out of school children would be brought to schools by supporting private schools.
The British High Commissioner said that the target areas for promoting education would be the most neglected areas of the province. He further said that United Kingdom also intended to extend assistance for rehabilitation of rain-affected people and would do the needful in affected areas.
