Islamabad: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s counsel Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan on Friday said that the judgment on the contempt of court case was inappropriate.
Talking to media Aitzaz said that he would appeal against the court order and a new bench of Supreme Court (SC), excluding all others who listen to contempt case, would hear the appeal.
The barrister said Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry would likely head the appeal and he would have to appear before him.
Aitzaz said that every person imprisoned would be disqualified but a member of Assembly would only be disqualified if he would be imprisoned for two years.
“There are three types of contempt of court in the constitution,” he said adding that the first one applies on a person who denies to act on the judgment of SC and PM came under first option.
He further said that the harassment of judges was the second type while scandalizing court was the third type.
He further said that if an objection has not been raised on the membership of assembly than it would be the speaker who would decide regarding disqualification.
