Karachi: Traders of Karachi vegetable market announced on Wednesday to shut down their businesses against vandalism, robberies and killings of traders.
The traders held a protest demonstration in the market against the ever-increasing number of killings of traders and robberies of millions of rupees.
The traders complained that the law-and-order situation was very disturbing in the vicinity of the market. They demanded the government to take immediate concrete steps to control the situation.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Police (SP) Gadap Jan Birhmani termed the traders’ protest unreasonable, saying the criminal involved in the killing of a trader a few days ago had been arrested.
A supply of around 500 hundred trucks is witnessed in the market daily and according to the traders, supply of fruits and vegetables had been stopped across the country.
