Islamabad: The Director General of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Nadeem Yousafzai responded to allegations that there was no political pressure behind issuing the license to Bhoja Airlines.
“They (Bhoja Airlines) had a license since 1994 but were closed due to non-payment of dues to CAA. The airline had a joint venture after which their dues were paid. The planes were inspected by the CAA.” Yousafzai told reporters during a news conference.
“The CAA does not make any compromises on safety,” he added.
DG CAA said that contact with the aircraft was cut off at 18:40 approximately six kilo-meters away from the international airport in Islamabad.
“The pilot got clearance for landing, after which communication was cut off.”
DG Civil Aviation added that the black box could take a month to decode.
According to the DG CAA, 122 passengers and five crew members were on board the plane. 115 victims had been identified and 113 had been handed over to their families.
