Rabat: At least two US soldiers were killed and two others wounded when a helicopter crashed on Wednesday in southern Morocco, media reported on Wednesday.
The spokesman for the US embassy in Rabat Rodney D. Ford told media that the crash of the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey in the southern province of Tan Tan is being investigated as a “helicopter incident”.
The incident happened during a joint military exercise in Southern Morocco. More than 1,000 U.S. Marines and 200 soldiers, sailors and airmen are taking part in the African Lion exercise that started earlier this month.
The annual exercise aims to enhance cooperation between Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces and the U.S. military.
