ISLAMABAD: Taking step forward to compete with private services and to facilitate the peoples of Pakistan, ministry of postal services has computerize its important post offices while 382 cameras have been installed for directly monitoring the workers.
According to The News Tribe report, at present there are 12367 post offices in Pakistan.
The total number of staff is 29450 including 1129 workers of the federal government, 1203 in Balochistan, 15751 in Punjab, 6916 in Sindh, 3702 in KhyberPakhtoonKhwa and 749 workers are in Azad Kashmir while there is only one post office for 14000 people.
Out of total, 85 percent postal services are operational in villages and the department’s daily supplies are up to Rs 4.7 billion.
The total numbers of postal circles are eight, postal life insurance circles are two and postal regions six in the country.
Pakistan post and management board had announced to charge Rs 2 on collecting amount of each utility bill and it had developed a positive response in the postal workers. But after a severe criticism the announced charges were dropped.
