Karachi: Aftershocks of killings of workers of two rival political parties have jolted Karachi as there is no petrol, no transport and no peace in the port city of Pakistan.
The wave of violence started last night after killings of a worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). It has alleged that Awami National Party is involved in killings of MQM workers.
Arch-rival ANP has also alleged killing of its worker by MQM saying further killings of the party would not be tolerated.
The political battlefield has paralyzed the home of around 2o million people as public transport is not on the roads.
Police and other law enforcement agencies seems to be taking no action against the miscreants despite repeated incidents of violence.
Karachi Transport Ittehad, body of private bus owners, said that due to lawlessness it had barred drivers to come on the road.
Police officials have reported many incidents of firing in various parts of the city.
“A person in Gulistan e Jauhar, an eastern locality of the metropolis, has been injured in the firing.”
Over 43 vehicles including cars, buses and a trawler has been set ablaze since last night. The vehicles also include three vans of police.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain has appealed his workers to keep the patience over killing of MQM worker.

Troops of Sindh Rangers have started crackdown on miscreants and arrested may workers of a political party. The arrests were made in PIB Colony, Burns and other stronghold areas of the “party”.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) deputy secretary-general Imran Ismail has blamed the government for the city’s security conditions and condoled the death of the MQM worker killed on Tuesday morning.
Provincial Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has ordered law enforcement agencies (LAEs) to take strict action against miscreants. He was chairing a meeting of Pakistan Peoples Party Sindh, the major party in the provincial coalition government.
The death toll raised to 09 as police and other LAEs yet to take action.
The violence is also spread to other urban parts of Sindh including Hyderabad and Sukkur, where MQM is considered to have a strong presence.
Funeral prayers of Mansoor, an MQM worker and his brother Masood offered at MQM’s headquarter in which leaders of the party participated.
