Gilgit: The Gilgit-Baltistan government on Tuesday imposed section 144 and banned pillion-riding in Gilgit city following an attack on a bus in Kohistan which led to killing of 18 people.
Official sources said police had been directed to ensure strict implementation of the order to avoid any untoward incident.
Police have set up check points at various places in the city where people and vehicles are being searched. Police are also routinely patrolling the streets and sensitive spots are being manned by contingents of police.
Following the tense situation the government has also announced to close all the schools for the three days.
