Karachi: Dow Olympics 2012 have been held in Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Karachi here on Monday.
All the constituent institutes of Dow University including Dow Medical College (DMC), Sindh Medical College (SMC), Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan Institute of Oral Health Sciences (DIKIOHS), Dow International Medical Sciences (DIMC), Dow College of Pharmacy (DCM), Institute of Medical Technology (IMT), Institute of Physical Medical and Rehabilitation (IPMR) and Institute of Nursing (ION) participated with full enthusiasm.
The Dow Olympics 2012 have been started with Husn-e-Naat and Qirat competition at Sindh Medical College and Squash Matches at Dow Medical College. The main objective of the competition was to draw the youth to the zikr of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala and his Beloved Prophet Muhammad Sallal Laahu Ta’ala Alayhi Wa Sallam. In Naat and Qirat competition a total of 32 students participated. The competition was attended by a large number of students. Eminent scholars including Syed Shakeel Hasan, Allama Irfan Hyderi, Hafiz Muhammad Zafar Qadri and Mufti Naeem Noori were the judges of the competition.
Ayesha Alamgir of IMT won the first prize whereas Madiha Khan of DCOP won the 2nd prize in Naat competition and Tooba and Faheem of IPM&R held third position. Abdul Muqtabir of DMC won the 1st prize in Qirat competition, whereas Madiha Khan of DCOP hold 2nd position and Salman Masroor of DIMC alongwith Faiza Hassan of IMT captured 3rd position.
Earlier, Syed Shakeel Hasan and Allama Irfan Hyderi sharing their views on the occasion praised the efforts of successful students. In the end, shields were presented to the judges by Dr. Irfan Ashraf, Focal Person of Naat & Qirat Compeition.
In the Squash Matches held at Dow Medical College, Awais and jahanzeb Sohail of DMC got 1st prize in boys whereas Azam and Arbab of SMC got the 2nd position. In Girls, Maira and Ayesha of DMC got 1st position and Ifrah and Nabiya hot 2nd position.
