Islamabad: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday made an appeal to Afghan insurgent groups including the Taliban and Hizb-e-Islami to play their role for successful peace process.
The appeal came on the request of Afghan President Hamid Karzai who telephoned the Pakistani prime minister on Thursday to play a role in bringing fighting groups to negotiating table—due to Islamabad’s influence on Islamists group.
“Afghan peace process is an opportunity to open a new chapter in the Afghan history,” he said and added the Afghan force should be united as it had been a tradition. The peace process should be succeeded as it was imperative for peace prosperity and stability in the war-torn country.
