Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) ‘Strong Pakistan — Empowered Women’ rally is underway in Karachi as thousands of women are present at the Bagh-e-Jinnah near the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum.
The stage, which is 36-feet above the ground, is fully decorated with roses while the party has claimed to have placed 100,000 chairs at the ground.
The meeting would be addressed by MQM chief Altaf Hussain via telephone. MQM leaders claimed that the meeting would be the biggest in history.
Additional IG Karachi Akhtar Gorchani, as well as the Bomb Disposal Squad, inspected the venue before the rally, while the girls’ wing of All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation (APMSO) are providing security at the rally.
MQM has also setup a foods and mehndi stalls for the women in the rally.
MQM leader and former Mayor Mustafa Kamal has that after seeing such a big crowd it is understood that the whole families are committed with the MQM.
