Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the Punjab government to revoke its orders of suspending doctors in the wake of spurious drug scandal.
The SC on Thursday took notice of the strike of Young Doctors’ Association (YDA) in Lahore against the suspension of MS and DMS of Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
On Friday, an SC bench heard the case. Justice Saqib Nisar asked Punjab Advocate General Ashtar Osaf as to why doctors had gone to strike. The AG told that the strike was being observed against the suspension of senior doctors of the PIC. “Had show-cause notice been issued before suspension,” Saqib Nisar asked.
The AG said no notice was issued before the order. “Why does Punjab government act in haste,” justice Nisar remarked.
“The orders could be revoked on if court issues orders,” the AG responded as saying.
The Supreme Court also decided to hear the spurious drug case in Lahore and summoned president and secretary of YDA on Monday.
