Quetta: Protest against the killing of Baloch Republican Party (BRP) leader Sangat Sana Baloch continued on the third consecutive day on Thursday in parts of Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan.
A complete strike was observed in different areas of the province that has been witnessing a low level insurgency by nationalist elements, demanding more provincial autonomy.
According to correspondents, business and other activities remained suspended in Khuzdar, Qillat, Mastaung and Sorab areas as other nationalist parties joined the protest with the BRP.
Heavy deployment of police and paramilitary soldiers was made to avert any untoward incident.
The armed struggle in the province is sparked by militants organisation headed by Baloch leaders living in self-exile. Pakistani security forces blamed foreign powers for funneling arms and money to terrorists in the volatile province.
Pakistani parliament also reacted strongly over the US congress committee debate on Balochistan human right abuses, saying the US should be concerned over human riots violation in Indian controlled Kashmir and killing of innocent people in US drone attacks in Pak-Afghan border areas.
