Karachi: Police have suspected that certain group or hospital is researching on aborted babies in Karachi as they had found bodies of five premature babies from garbage dumb in Akhter Colony area of the city earlier this week.
According to local Urdu news paper report, Station House Officer (SHO) Mahmudabad Rao Mustaqeem said that they had extended the radius of their investigation as few doctors had felt that certain group was conducting research on pre-mature or aborted babies in the city.
The report quoting intelligence sources said that some maternity homes in Mahmudabad area were involved in the abortion and action would be taken after getting evidences.
“Police have also taken the boxes, in which the five babies were packed, in their custody to take finger prints,” report said.
EDHI’s spokesman, Anwer Kazmi, told the newspaper that almost 480 aborted babies were found in the city during last year, adding that 80 percent were females. “The bodies were mainly found from Kemari, Mahmudabad, Landhi, Akhter Colny and Azam Basti areas of the city,” Kazmi said.
