Karachi: As Citi Pakistan celebrates its 50th anniversary in Pakistan and its 200th anniversary worldwide, it reiterates its commitment to the field of microfinance by announcing that the Citi Foundation will continue its support to the Micro entrepreneurship Awards CMA program again this year.
The Citi Foundation is committing $2,000,000 to the Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards program in 2012. In 2010, the awards took place in 28 countries including Pakistan. The awards will take place in collaboration with the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, for the 8th year in a row in Pakistan this year.
Awards in cash and kind will be presented in various categories, including “Best National Microentrepreneur Male”, ‘Best National Microentrepreneur Female’, “Best Regional Microentrepreneurs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab, AJK and one for Federal Capital and Gilgit & Baltistan, with one runner-up for each category.
Special awards in categories for innovative business ideas, young entrepreneur for overcoming adversity and for having a positive impact on the community are also given. Recognition awards will be also given to the respective Loan Officers and representatives of Microfinance Institutions.

Our support for these awards marks our small contribution towards tackling the huge issues surrounding poverty alleviation in Pakistan,’ said Arif Usmani, Citi Pakistan’s Country Officer.
