Karachi: A large number of doctors and paramedics on Thursday protested against the government for non-payment of salaries and not regularization of their jobs.
Staff of different government-run medical facilities, including Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Civil Hospital closed OPDs and took to the roads. They blocked roads in North Nazimabad that caused huge traffic jam in the area.
They later went to Civic Center near Hasn Square and hurled stones. They said that Sindh governor had regularized six thousands teachers last month and he should also do the same for them.
A large number of women staffers were also present in the protest. The demonstrators chanted slogans against local administration.
Municipal Commissioner Matanat Ali held talks with protesters and conveyed their list of demands to high officials.
