Dhaka: The first edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) kicked off here Thursday with a colourful opening ceremony.
It was lights, camera and action at the decked up Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Dhaka as the 2012 Bangladesh Premier League was accorded a royal welcome.
In less than a week after the World Cup, the clear skies over the city lit up with fireworks and the artists entertained a packed gathering during the opening ceremony.
The sell-out crowd seemed to enjoy every moment of the ceremony.
The BPL would be the platform for many domestic players to showcase their talent and pitch for Bangladesh cap.
Six teams, Dhaka Gladiators, Barisal Burners, Chittagong Kings, Duronto Rajshahi, Khulna Royal Bengal and Sylhet Royals would take part in the tournament.
