Islamabad: Islamabad High Court on Wednesday restrained the government from appointing new Secretary Defense, ordering that status quo be maintained till the disposal of the petition.
The court issued the order while hearing a petition filed by former Secretary Defense General (Retd) Naeem Khalid Lodhi against his dismissal by the prime minister. Lodhi has challenged his dismissal by the prime minister in the IHC.
He had pleaded the court to suspend the notification of his dismissal, arguing that the prime minister overstepped his power by removing him without serving show cause notice on him.
After hearing the petitioner’s counsel and a Deputy Attorney General, the court directed the government not to appoint new secretary defense and the incumbent secretary Nergis Sethi would be working till the disposal of the case.
