Islamabad: An intra court appeal requesting the Supreme Court to set aside its decision of framing contempt charges against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was filed on Wednesday.
On Feb 2, the apex court had decided to indict with contempt the premier on Feb 13 for his refusal to pursue corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.
The appeal was filed byh Aitzaz Ahsan, counsel for the prime minister.
Aitzaz Ahsan said that a nine –judge bench would be formed to hear the appeal. Talking to media outside the apex court he said that the appeal was consist of 200 pages and included 50 instances from national and international courts.
He said 50 questions have been raised in the plea regarding contempt of court. Replying a query, he said that it was up to larger bench either to summon the prime minister or not.
He said that he had not been appearing before the Chief Justice for four years but now he would appear before him if  became part of the bench. He said that the judges who gave verdict in the case should not be part of the bench hearing appeal against verdict.
