Tasmania: Dozens of water-skiers in Tasmania marked their way to a new world record for the highest number to be pulled behind a single boat.
According to the media reports around 154 skiers from all over the world set off on the record attempt to ski a full nautical mile inside Australia’s Macquarie Harbor in Strahan.
Although nine skiers failed to reach the destination but the 145 remaining on their skis were enough to beat the previous record of 114 set by the same team.
The 114ft catamaran (a big ship), which normally takes tourists on tours of the area, was specially modified with different propeller (a type of power fan) and a 308ft aluminum boom to prevent skiers’ ropes from becoming twisted.
Organizers said that five miles of ski rope was used for the new record and they were hopeful that The Guinness Book of Records would officially recognize it within the next few months.
