In view of the forecast, authorities have asked officials to restrict movement on key Srinagar-Jammu highway, only road link connecting Kashmir with rest of the world, on these days.
The met department official said a western disturbance is fast approaching Jammu and Kashmir and is likely to affect Kashmir and adjoining areas from the evening of February 3 -7.
“Moderate to heavy snowfall is likely to occur in Pir Panchal mountain range of Kashmir. Moderate snowfall is likely to occur in Drass, Kargil and Zanskar. Light to moderate snowfall was likely to occur in Srinagar also during the period,” he said.
Meanwhile, in view of the forecast, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Asgar Samoon has directed field officers to take all possible measures to ensure minimum disruption of services and keep their men and machinery including joint snow control rooms in a state of readiness to meet any eventuality, due to expected snowfall from February 3 -7.
He urged traffic department to monitor the weather situation and in case of adverse weather, the movement of traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway should be restricted on February 4 and 5 so that no vehicles get stranded.
