Karachi: International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Karachi University (KU), has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamia Universities of Bahawalpur (IUB), Punjab to strengthen, promote and develop academic and research cooperation in various fields of sciences between both the institutions.
Director ICCBS Prof. Dr. M Iqbal Choudhary, in his recent visit to University of Bahawalpur (UOB), signed the MoU, while Vice Chancellor UOB Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar inked the MoU on behalf of his institution.
As per the agreement, both the parties will establish joint collaborative research programme at the ICCBS and IUB, in the field of Medicinal Chemistry and Biotechnology. Both the parties may undertake joint research projects in the fields of basic chemical and biochemical sciences with the aim to address scientific, health and industrial problems of local, regional, national and international significance.
Both the institutions have agreed to enhance relations between two institutions and to develop academic exchange in the area of education and research, and have agreed to identify team members to work on joint research projects. As per the MoU, bi-institutional meeting will be held annually in the form of workshop / seminar / conference jointly organised by the Parties.
“The collaborative activities to be covered by this agreement may include faculty and research staff exchanges, study abroad program, collaborative research programs, including the exchange of voucher samples, and natural product extracts; joint seminars, workshops, and service programs.
This Agreement will be in effect for a period of five years from the date of execution and may be extended by mutual agreement in writing by both parties. The Agreement may be terminated by either party’s giving thirty days written notice to the other party. Each party will be responsible for seeking funds to support its involvement in the cooperative activities under this agreement, and all such activities will be dependent upon the budgetary appropriations of the parties,” spokesman of the ICCBS said.
