Karachi: A famous German institute has published a thesis of Pakistani youth, Ahmed Aleem, written about local culture and designing.
The dissertationtitled ‘Pakistan Chawk’ is about the art and work of designers in the old city area of Karachi.
The former student of Indus Valley School of Arts Karachi said he was very keen to know old area dwellers’ skill and abilities and this quest took this shape finally. He said acknowledgement of the work by a German publisher gave great sense of achievement.
He made it his mission to fight their fight for them and did his dissertation on Pakistan Chawk followed by a hypothetical workshop as his thesis that aimed at filling the blanks of formal education on the subject of design at Pakistan Chawk.
Nisar A Moosa a trainer at ‘Rahshown’ an institute for human development commented, “Its a tribute to entire generation that will encourage young artists who dream to introduce Pakistani culture to foreign countries.”
Ahmed, associated with Pakistan’s oldest advertising agency Lowe & Rauf, said, “I amazed every time I visit ‘Pakistan Chawk’ observing artist, delivering professional stuff without professional training is quite an inspiration.”
