Quetta: Former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz tried to absolve himself of the responsibility of Akbar Bugti’s murder, saying that General Pervez Musharraf was responsible for his killing in a military action.
In a letter sent to Crime Branch of Balochistan Police, which is investigating the murder of Nawab Bugti on the instructions of Balochistan High Court (BHC), the former prime minister said that he had nothing to do with the murder of Bugti as General Musharaf had ordered the action against the aged Baloch Sardar and he was powerless in face of the former military ruler.
Shaukat Aziz was the handpicked prime minister of General Musharraf and now he had turned his back toward the military dictator by holding him responsible for Bugti’s murder.
The BHC had order registration of FIRs against then president General Musharraf, then prime minister Shaukat Aziz and others in Bugti murder case. A local court had also issued warrant for arrest of the former military ruler and Shaukat Aziz in the case.
