Rawalpindi: A local court on Saturday reserved its verdict on an acquittal plea of Atiqa Odho, famous actress and former office bearer of Pervez Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) in illegal possession of wine case.
Odho prayed to the court case against her should be dismissed as she was political victimized.
The actress also submitted her British passport to the court.
Two bottles of imported wine were seized from Atiqa’s luggage at the Islamabad airport when she was about to leave for Karachi. However she was allowed to leave without being booked in any case, apparently due to her influence in power corridors.
Later the Supreme Court of Pakistan took suo motu notice of the situation and ordered the police to immediately lodge an FIR against the celebrity and arrest her. The court had ruled that law should be equally implemented. Atiqa went on hiding to avert detention.
