Washington: James Jones, former US general and National Security Adviser, has said that Pakistan is hell-bent on self-destruction.
He said that Pakistan was not taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the US and others countries that can lead to a dramatic changes in the Pakistani society.
Talking about memogate scandal, he said he had received an email on May 9 or 10 and passed it on to then US joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Mike Mullen as it was easy for him as a civilian.
He said that it was easy to forward the email to Mike Mullen since he was a good friend of him.
Mr Jones said Mansoor Ijaz, a Pakistani-American who revealed the memo issue” was also his friend and he was introduced to him by a common fried.
He said that Ijaz has good contacts in the US as he was an American citizen.
Relations between Pakistan and the US plunged into a new low after a fatal Nato attack on a Pakistani checkpost that killed 24 soldiers.
Pakistan have suspended Nato supplies and also announced to boycott Bonn Conference on Afghanistan future in reaction to the attack.
