Karachi: Research Institute of Chemistry in Karachi University, Hussain Ebrahim Jamal (H.E.J) has signed an agreement with the Al-Farabi Kazakhstan National University, Republic of Kazakhstan on education and science cooperation between both the nations.
An official of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Karachi University, on Tuesday said that Director ICCBS Prof Dr. M. Iqbal Chaudhary, in his recent visit to Kazakhstan, signed the agreement, while Rector of the Al-Farabi Kazakhstan National University Prof Dr Mutanov G. inked the agreement on behalf of his institution.
It is pertinent to mention here that H.E.J. Research Institute works under the umbrella of ICCBS, which is considered one of the finest institutions in the world.
The aim of the agreement is to establish friendly relations and understanding between two nations to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of higher education, science and culture.
As per the agreement, both the institutions have agreed to make mutual efforts in improvement of work organization in their universities as well as exchange of information on the problems of scientific and organizational aspects.
Both the parties have agreed to promote exchange of students and teachers in the area of education and research, and agreed to work on joint research projects.
Both parts are agreed to conduct mutual scientific investigation on most important issues of science and technology as well as in the field of management and administration of higher education institutions and systems.
The parts also agreed on development joint PhD programme with aim to enhance mutual scientific cooperation.
“The collaborative activities to be covered by this agreement may include faculty and research staff exchanges, study abroad program, collaborative research programs, including the exchange of voucher samples, and natural product extracts; joint seminars, workshops, and service programs. This Agreement will be in effect for a period of five years from the date of execution and may be extended by mutual agreement in writing by both parties. Each party will be responsible for seeking funds to support its involvement in the cooperative activities under this Agreement, and all such activities will be dependent upon the budgetary appropriations of the parties,” spokesman of the ICCBS said
