Lahore: Effective communication services can enable a communicative and interconnected way of life and lead Pakistanis to a brighter future.
This was stated by CEO, Wateen Telecom, Naeem Zamindar at a press conference, where he announced re-launch of company’s new corporate identity as well as a new line of products and services for Pakistani customers on Monday.
He said that the company had returned with a commitment that it would enable its customers’ lives and businesses by providing reliable, responsive and innovative broadband solutions. During the last 11 months, he said, the company had invested heavily and revamped its services and brought in new high gain gadgets and devices.
Zamindar said that the company in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission would go to every university of the country and offer its services at subsidised rates. It would become instrumental in bridging the digital divide in Pakistan, he added.
He said 68 per cent of Pakistan’s population (around 122 million people) was living in rural areas and only less than three per cent of this population had access to broadband internet.
In view of this situation, he said, the company believed that high speed broadband could help connect these underserved areas to the internet and the world.
The CEO said that the company recently won a multi-million dollar bid from the Universal Service Fund and would lay a fiber-optic cable in Baluchistan.
He said that the company would soon announce subsidised packages for the youth living in rural areas and enable them to connect to the outer world.
He said that the company had gone for a complete overhaul and was focused on building a dynamic and customer focused organisation providing the most advanced triple-play services in telephony, internet and cable TV as well as networking and data management.
